Description
This volume compiles William Tyndale’s expositions of Matthew 5-7 and 1 John, including the “Practice of Prelates.”
Tyndale describes Matthew 5-7 as the key Scriptures restoring the Law of Moses, which had been corrupted by the scribes and Pharisees.
The purpose of his exposition is to restore Christ’s law, which had been corrupted by the papists. Tyndale’s exposition of 1 John is a continuation of his teaching on the law of God.
In the final section of this book, titled “The Practice of the Prelates,” Tyndale exposes the misconduct of Rome’s leaders. T
his volume also contains a brief section of Tyndale’s notes on the entire gospel of Matthew. Readers will gain insight from one of the Reformation’s leaders concerning his points of contention with the Roman Catholic Church.
