The Westminster Standards in Modern English (Bidwell)
The Westminster Standards are more than 370 years old, and yet they are undiminished in their importance for the people of God. Joel Beeke has written of them:
"For the last three and a half centuries, the Westminster Standards have trained generations of men and women to live with courageous peace, holy intention, and confident hope. These precious documents trace the pathway of faith and obedience that God reveals in his Word. Like a building with a thousand windows, the confession and catechisms produced by the Westminster divines radiate the clear light of Christ in every direction, inviting the reader to come and worship the Lord."
Here the Standards are presented in a lightly modernized English version. No attempt has been made to change the original intent of the great men of God who produced the Standards. The supporting biblical texts are referenced. This book also includes the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed and the Definition of the Council of Chalcedon.
This version of the Standards is also available accompanied by essays on the history of the Standards, their teaching on worship, family worship and church government, also published by EP.
