Visiting the sick can be the most uplifting, humbling, joyful, sanctifying and satisfying of all Christian ministries—and in this highly practical and easy-to-read book, Mike Mellor draws on his experience to show us how.

Written with both pastors and lay people in mind, this book seeks, firstly, to remove any lurking sense of duty we may feel when visiting those in their time of weakness and need; secondly, to give practical advice on how to be the greatest earthly blessing to our frail fellow sufferers as together we travel this often painful pathway through life; and thirdly, to convince us that this a ministry all can—no, all must—exercise!

Above all else, Mike emphasizes the immense privilege that is ours as we seek to follow in the footsteps of the Saviour who poured out his heart in ministering to the sick.

Mike Mellor has been in ministry for over thirty years, having pastored churches in South Wales and Covent Garden in Central London. He served as a staff evangelist for the Open-Air Mission and until his retirement in 2015 was pastor of Hope Church Ferndown in Dorset. He is married to Gwen and they have four married daughters and seven grandchildren.

‘… pastorally wise and practical, theologically utterly faithful and balanced, while at the same time filled with humanity and humour … It’s my book of the year—and that’s not just because it’s so short!’ - Rico Tice, Associate Minister, All Souls Church, London, and co-author of Christianity Explored

‘Whether or not you’re a pastor, read this book and look for opportunities to do what it says. In doing so, you will be both blessed and a blessing!’ - Richard Underwood, Pastoral Ministries Director, Fellowship of Independent
