Reaching the Next Generation - Keven Deyoung
This is a must read for a wide range of people. If I'm not mistaken this forty page paperback began its life as part of a symposium entitled "Don't Call it a Comeback" published by Crossway. I first read it whilst in holiday in the U.K. and was very favourably impressed. Unfortunately I've not had the opportunity of reading this new version but I imagine Crossway felt that it was an essay worthy of a wider circulation. It has basically five major emphasis: 1] Grab them with Passion. 2] Win them with love, 3] Hold them with holiness, 4] Challenge them with truth and Finally, 5 Amaze them with God. In days when many people are shy of reading 40 pages [only 10 pages in the symposium] is not much to ask them to read. It is simple but not simplistic, lucid and not a little challenging.Just a few sentences from the last paragraph of the book will give a taster: "We have an incredible opportunity before us.. We can show them a big God to help make sense of their shrinking lives...We can reach them with something more lasting and more powerful than gimmicks, gadgets and games. We can reach them with God.". Buy a copy, read it, share it with others and by the grace of God follow the example of Deyoung and go and do likewise!
