Description

What is meant by the ‘sovereignty’ of God? Where is this idea taught in the Scriptures? How does it show itself in creation, salvation, and prayer? If God is ‘sovereign’, how does this relate to the exercise of human will?

All these questions and more are answered and discussed in The Sovereignty of God. In the many decades since this work was first published, it has become known as a first-class treatment of a vital subject — a reliable ‘go-to’ guide to return to often.

To come to grips with the doctrine of God’s sovereignty is no mere academic exercise. As the author makes clear, ‘The doctrine of God’s sovereignty is a divine cordial to refresh our spirits. It is designed and adapted to mould the affections of the heart, and to give a right direction to conduct.’

This book remains, for younger and older Christians alike, a stimulus to growth in spiritual maturity and sanctification.

About the Author

Arthur Walkington Pink was born in Nottingham, England in 1886. He acted as a spiritualist medium, but was then converted to Christ. He went to the United States, where he briefly attended Chicago’s Moody Bible Institute in 1910. He served as a pastor in Colorado, and then in other churches in the United States and Australia, and also started a magazine in 1922: Studies in the Scriptures. He ultimately moved to Scotland where he lived the rest of his life. A. W. Pink’s books include Profiting From the Word, which helps Christians read the Scriptures and shares how they can profit even more. In Sovereignty of God, Pink examines God’s omnipotence and shares the message that God still reigns, even as faith is being tested by fire. In The Life of Elijah, he offers readers crucial lessons for contemporary times drawn from the ministry of Elijah.
