The Golden Scepter Held Forth to the Humble

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

The Puritans knew that God longs to hear, forgive, and bless His people—so much that He uses trials to bring them to their knees before Him. John Preston's The Golden Scepter helps Christians remember that God's discipline is a loving discipline.

Pick up this classic call to fear the Lord more than affliction and stand firm in His promises during life's storms.

Endorsement

“The relationship between God’s affliction, our humbling, and God’s forgiveness can be confusing at times. With great pastoral sensitivity, John Preston provides much-needed clarity in The Golden Scepter. He demonstrates that God uses affliction like medicine to cure us of whatever ails us. . . Here is an insightful guide into a key element of Puritan experiential theology.”
