Overview

Reformation Heritage Books (RHB) is seeking a skilled and ambitious Customer & Sales Support rep to join our publishing ministry. We are looking for someone who is hungry to serve and thrives on action and momentum. This isn’t a passive, on-call role; it’s one where you are always moving, always seeking ways to serve our customers better. You’ll need to stay a step ahead, proactively anticipating needs, solving problems, and ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to excellence. 

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and voicemail with timely, respectful, and helpful communication.
  • Process orders, handle returns and refunds and resolve issues like shipping delays or order discrepancies.
  • Assist wholesale customers and manage tax-exempt accounts.
  • Provide basic website assistance to customers experiencing technical difficulties.
  • Monitor and report recurring customer service issues, suggesting improvements to enhance the experience, and maintain and update the FAQ section on the website to address common inquiries proactively.
  • Support event-related customer needs and assist with follow-up tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service and sales support at local events.
  • Restock inventory for our brick-and-mortar store.
  • Perform various additional sales support tasks as needed.

Overview

Reformation Heritage Books (RHB) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Managing Editor to join our publishing ministry. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the quality of our publications reflects our mission to glorify God by equipping the church through biblically faithful resources. The Managing Editor will oversee all editorial operations, guide manuscripts through the publishing process, and work closely with authors, freelancers, and internal teams to meet the highest standards of excellence. This position combines leadership, editorial expertise, and project management, making it ideal for a highly organized professional who is passionate about publishing and driven by the mission of equipping believers globally.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manuscripts for publication, conducting content and developmental editing as needed, and providing constructive feedback to authors.
  • Guide authors through substantive revisions, negotiating edits and corrections tactfully while upholding editorial standards.
  • Maintain a strategic publishing plan to ensure a consistent flow of titles across genres, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
  • Ensure manuscripts are copyedited to high standards, aligned with theological faithfulness, and prepared for the next stage of production.
  • Oversee freelance editors, proofreaders, and indexers by assigning projects, resolving editorial queries, and providing specific guidance.
  • Manage information flow and collaboration between authors, team members, and freelancers, ensuring smooth transitions in the publishing pipeline.
  • Track project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates to support operational planning.
  • Maintain and update the in-house RHB style guide, ensuring consistency across all publications and adherence to industry standards.
  • Review proofs at multiple stages, verifying accuracy and consistency, and coordinating corrections with typesetters/designers.
  • Handle technical aspects of publication, including assigning ISBNs, coordinating CIP data with the Library of Congress, and cataloging corrections for future reprints.
  • Create content summaries, secure endorsements, and draft author and editor bios to support marketing and communications
  • Participate in team meetings, collaborate with production teams, and assist with ad hoc tasks from the executive team as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in copyediting, proofreading, and managing editorial workflows, with formal training in editorial practices such as developmental, line, and copy editing.
  • Mastery of The Chicago Manual of Style and familiarity with The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style.
  • Strong management and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with authors, freelancers, and internal teams.
  • High emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills to navigate complex relationships and advocate for authors while upholding editorial standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, patience, and the ability to focus for extended periods.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, personal initiative, and a commitment to excellence in publishing.
  • Familiarity with project and title management software and other relevant tools.
  • Seminary education or advanced theological training and familiarity with biblical languages is a plus.
  • Commitment to the Reformed faith and the theology of the Puritans aligned with confessional standards like the Three Forms of Unity and the Westminster Confession of Faith, and adherence to a robust evangelical theology consistent with RHB’s mission and values.
