Theology is not just an academic subject—it's worship.
In Volume 4 of Reformed Systematic Theology set, authors Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley unpack important topics around ecclesiology (the doctrine of the church) and eschatology (the doctrine of last things) biblical, doctrinal, experiential, and practical perspectives:
Practical: Discover tangible applications of ecclesiology and eschatology—including the biblical significance of church membership, Jesus’s model for the church, and 7 lessons from Revelation.
Accessible: Learn from two seasoned pastor-theologians as they make complex issues simple—perfect for seminary students, pastors, and everyday Christians.
Reformed: Drink deeply from the rich historical theology of the Reformed tradition, bringing together rigorous scholarship and practical application.
Balanced: Consider the best arguments for pedobaptism and credobaptism from Scripture and church history.
Pick up the final volume of the most comprehensive 21st-century systematic theology of the Reformed Christian faith that ministers to the whole person―head, heart, and hands.
Praise for Reformed Systematic Theology:
". . .[a]remarkable gift to the church—not only in the United States but also throughout the world. . . that serves many levels of readership." —Sinclair B. Ferguson, Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary; Teaching Fellow, Ligonier Ministries
“The theology is never very far away from application, and the application is always derived from the theology. Doctrine and devotion are everywhere intertwined and rooted in clear and faithful biblical exposition.” —Ligon Duncan, Chancellor and CEO, Reformed Theological Seminary
“Reformed Systematic Theology has been eagerly awaited, and it does not disappoint. Grounded in Scripture, rooted in the Reformation tradition, theologically faithful and wise, and practically relevant.” —Stephen J. Wellum, Professor of Christian Theology, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
“. . . this work demonstrates that Reformed theology is also profoundly experiential, as no chapter fails to move from theology to doxology.” —John MacArthur, Pastor, Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, California; Chancellor, The Master’s University and Seminary
“No contemporary systematic theology will bring the reader to a greater understanding of how theology blossoms into doxology than this one.” —Matthew Barrett, Professor of Christian Theology, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Host, Credo Podcast; author, Simply Trinity
“This is not a systematic theology written by an ivory-tower theologian, but rather by a seasoned preacher for whom the doctrines he expounds have become, by the grace of God, an experiential reality.” —Bartel Elshout, Pastor, Heritage Reformed Congregation, Hull, Iowa; translator, The Christian’s Reasonable Service and The Christian’s Only Comfort in Life and Death
“Beeke and Smalley have written a work useful to the church at large that teaches Christians what they should believe and how they should love, but they have not sacrificed academic rigor to achieve these goals.” —J. V. Fesko, Harriet Barbour Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson
“Joel Beeke has continued his decades-long service to Christ and his church by presenting us with his mature reflections on the nature of systematic theology. . . reliable, well written, easily understood, and thoroughly researched.” —Richard C. Gamble, Professor of Systematic Theology, Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary
“Here is theology functioning as it ought to function—calling us to worship.” —Jeremy Walker, Pastor, Maidenbower Baptist Church, Crawley, UK; author, Life in Christ; Anchored in Grace; and A Face Like a Flint

Absolutely love this volume. I found it incredibly accessible, which is impressive for how deep and detailed it is. Not only have I learned from this book, but I have really enjoyed reading it! In reading through the Eschatology section in particular I have appreciated the clarity of the reformed position as that was something I didn't learn much about in school. I have also appreciated the Christ-Centeredness of this book and really have been encouraged spiritually as much as I've grown in knowledge. Highly recommend! (One note: many of the scriptures cited are in the KJV. This wasn't a negative for me it was just unexpected as I am not very familiar with that translation.)

RFS Vol 4

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the first few chapters on ecclesiology and plan to continue through the whole volume using the 52 week reading plan that was included with my purchase. It beaks down the daily readings into segments that can easily be fitted into ones daily devotional readings. I find it very readable for a systematic theology, and seems to summarize essential doctrines that the uninitiated reader to theology could comprehend without delving into some of the heavy weight Reformed Systematics of the past (but one could easily do so, because of the extensive footnotes).
I appreciate the head to heart layout with the "Sing to the Lord" including many hymns from the Psalter at the end of each chapter. One can go on YouTube and find the music to the lyrics and sing along, which is a fitting ending to any reading of theology.
There are also questions for discussion or deeper reflection at the end of the chapter with makes this a perfect systematic for a Sunday school class or small group. I cannot recommend the four volume set more highly.

Beeke is clear in his writing, making theological concepts accessible. He is Biblically faithful, and historically rooted in his doctrine. I appreciate most that he doesn’t stop at doctrinal faithfulness but seeks to bring it to bare to the Christians experience and day to day life.

Even for us old school Dallas Dispensationalists, this book is a spiritual gold mine. Very gracious when dealing with tough subjects and very warm spiritually! I began reading it through last week and will continue as part of my morning worship times. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

10 Stars would not be enough to rate this volume.

The ecclesiology and eschatology treated in this volume are lawlessly treated. My only issue is how to stop crying over how terribly confused our local body is over these issues. Our congregation is a stew of different beliefs while claiming to be solidly reformed. We have recommended this Systematic to leadership without a peep of response. While it is a blessing and a comfort to be proven so indelibly correct, our fear is that our fellowship will continue to be described as: "The most conservative, privately owned and operated church in the state." I shall cling to this volume, "like a cocklebur on a top coat."
