Description
The sermons which make up this volume were preached by Rev. D.B. Macleod (1929–1995) during his time as pastor of Gilmore Place Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland. Although this is now over 30 years ago, Mr. Macleod continues to be remembered with great affection and admiration throughout the church and beyond.
D.B. Macleod’s preaching was consistently characterised by reverence and the ardent desire for sinners to be saved. His recurring themes are the desperate plight of sinners in their abject sinfulness and the richness of God’s provision of redemption in Christ Jesus. The danger of souls being lost for all eternity was very real to him and he laboured to point his hearers to the glorious Saviour who died on Calvary and is now exalted at God’s right hand to grant forgiveness of sins. ‘How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?’
This volume contains 30 sermons transcribed from audio recordings, both from Mr. Macleod’s regular Lord’s day preaching and from a number of communion services, as well as a small number of briefer notes taken down by hearers in the Edinburgh congregation. Also included is a biographical account of D.B. Macleod and a tribute to his wife, Una Macleod (1930–2020).
All who look to the Lord Jesus Christ have their sins blotted out for ever on the basis of his meritorious work. This is so great salvation, that required such a Saviour, the God-man Redeemer!
